Walking

I'm in Milwaukee this weekend for some time and space to think and pray and connect with a friend. I'm near lake Michigan so have been walking along the water. It's crisp and sunny here. A verse from Isaiah has been coming to mind often. "And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”"

I've found walking does help me pray and listen for God but I wish God would speak more clearly and directly. Yet more often than not I sense I'm not alone. Perhaps walking in the way God desires for us is more about walking the path with an openness to take in God's loving presence and find in it a safe space to weep and wonder, to lament and give thanks, to question and to fall into ever-present arms.

God, help me listen carefully for your voice and walk in your way.

Peace to you on your path today.
Ruth
